egyptian already varied a ton throughout its vast history, and im p sure the phonetic spelling (cause thats what it was, interpret the glyphs as their literal spoken out loud equivalents) wasnt consistent at any point in that
however, 𓃠 contains an /i/ sound, just not isolated from its consonant
so like, it had ways to spell other vowels, i think? but not as easily or purely as most of the consonants
its weird, ancient egyptian writing is weird and inconsistent and varied throughout time and probably intentionally convoluted to begin with just to ensure only nobility could achieve literacy
